The Morning Show was scheduled to return for season two in November 2020, but production has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Julianna stars as openly gay veteran journalist Laura Peterson, who occasionally interviews her rival Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) when Alex unexpectedly returns as the morning show’s co-host.
Peterson was previously fired from her job with the UBA show’s fictional network when she was exposed in the 1990s.
Fans of the show were stunned when Laura and her co-host Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) embarked on a scorching make-up session in the back of a car near the end of the episode.

In an interview with Vulture, Margulies described setting up the scene with Witherspoon, who is also a producer on the series. In the scene, Bradley surprised Laura with an unexpected kiss as Laura quizzes Bradley about how she got hired on The Morning Show.
Julianna told Vulture: âThat kiss was an interesting moment, because Reese said ‘wait, as a producer’ and pointed out that if she leans forward and kisses me without permission, that’s harassment, and our entire show is based on the Me Too movement.
“So she said, ‘How do you make this scene work so that it doesn’t sound hypocritical? And I said, “You’re right, you know, if you lean back like, oh my god I’m so sorry, and I lean in and say, no, I liked that, so this ‘is a consensual kiss. ” Then the scene turned into something different.
She went on to say, ‘I know people are probably going to be shocked. I know Bradley kissed her because she didn’t want to answer the question. But the way they deal with the repercussions of this is really fascinating.

âI said, ‘I just want to congratulate you and welcome you to my world of television. And she said to me, “I never knew how great television was for women!” And I was like, “I waited for you all to come!” ‘
Julianna, who rose to fame in the 1990s when she played Carol Hathaway in NBC’s longtime medical drama ER, said she also had a past connection to Aniston. The stars filmed ER and Friends in soundstages facing each other.
She said: âWe were laughing about it, 25 years later – although someone corrected me and said ’27 years later’, and I was like, f ** k! – it seems like so long ago, but it doesn’t seem like it.
âWe were shot down at exactly the same time, during this Thursday night lineup,â Julianna continued. âWe started together as unnamed actresses and overnight after our broadcast our worlds changed.
âThen being back on a lot of things, not just on the same stage, but with our trailers side by side, that was really good. It was like a celebration of aging women who are still appreciated for the work we do.
